In Lviv, 30 Lifts Installed in Buildings This Year

In Lviv, efforts to enhance the accessibility of residential buildings are ongoing. In early May, a metal lift was completed at 9 Hrab’yanky Street in the Frankivskiy district. This lift became the 30th project implemented this year, particularly for a resident who uses a wheelchair.

The lifts are being installed by LKP “Lvivsvitlo” under the Programme for Ensuring Accessibility for People with Disabilities. The measures include equipping entrances with lifts, enabling individuals with disabilities to move around and lead active lives more easily.

“This is already the 30th lift installed since the beginning of the year. It means more freedom of movement for people who use wheelchairs,” stated Iryna Marunyak, Lviv’s Deputy Mayor for Accessibility.

To participate in the Accessibility Programme, residents must submit a request at the CNAP or district administration. A confirmed disability and registration at the property where accessibility features are planned are mandatory. District administrations conduct monitoring and, subject to technical feasibility, approve addresses for inclusion in the Programme.

Last year, the Lviv community installed 38 lifts and 51 ramps. In 2026, the implementation of 19 ramps, installation of 71 lifts, replacement of 6 lifts, and 3 battery-operated transporters are planned under the Programme.
