Lviv to Open Street Named After Iryna Farion

On Wednesday, January 1, Lviv will officially open a new street named in honor of renowned Ukrainian linguist, politician, and public figure Iryna Farion. The ceremony will take place at 3:00 PM near the former Tekhnichna Street, now renamed after the prominent Ukrainian.

Location

The newly renamed street is located in the Halytskyi District, running from Mateyko Street to the junction of Ustyianovycha and Bibliotechna Streets.

Event Details

The ceremony coincides with the birthday of Stepan Bandera, a leader of the Ukrainian nationalist movement. At 2:00 PM, a memorial gathering will be held near the Bandera monument. Afterward, participants can proceed to the site of the street opening.

“The location of the opening is within walking distance of the Bandera monument, making it easy for attendees to join both events,” said Yevhen Boyko, Executive Committee Manager of the Lviv City Council.

The city administration invites Lviv residents and visitors to participate in the celebrations and honor the legacy of Iryna Farion, who made significant contributions to the advancement of Ukrainian culture, language, and public life.
