In Lviv, the repair of the first section of Heroiv UPA Street has been completed — from Stepan Bandera Street to Vasylkivskoho Street. Private vehicles are already allowed back on this stretch, while public transport is still running on a diversion route.
According to the Frankivsk District Administration, the contractor Onur has milled off the old surface on this part of the road, partially replaced the kerbs, repaired and raised manholes and storm drains to carriageway level, and laid the lower and upper layers of asphalt concrete. The total area of the works carried out is 3,400 m².
The next phase of the repair will start on 29 June on the section from Vasylkivskoho Street to Smal-Stotskoho Street. Overall, the works on Heroiv UPA Street have been divided into three sections to reduce inconvenience for drivers and business owners operating along this main road:
- Phase I — from Stepan Bandera Street to Vasylkivskoho Street;
- Phase II — from Vasylkivskoho Street to Smal-Stotskoho Street;
- Phase III — from Smal-Stotskoho Street to Kulparkivska Street.
The repair of Heroiv UPA Street, which began on 19 May, is being carried out by Onur with deferred payment. Once the works along the entire length of the street are completed, public transport will be able to run here again.
For the duration of the repair, a temporary public transport traffic scheme is in place. In particular, trolleybuses and buses are operating on altered routes:
- Trolleybus No. 22 “University — Bus Station” runs as follows: “University — St George’s Square — Sheptytskykh Street — Kropyvnytskyi Square — Horodotska Street — Kulparkivska Street (then as per route)”;
- Trolleybus No. 30 “University — Riashivska” follows the same route: “University — St George’s Square — Sheptytskykh Street — Kropyvnytskyi Square — Horodotska Street — Kulparkivska Street (then as per route)”;
- Bus No. 7 “Horynia Street — Chyhyrynska Street” runs: “Horodotska Street (Suburban Station) — Kulparkivska Street (then as per route)”;
- Bus No. 33 “Sichovykh Striltsiv Street — I. Puliuia Street” operates: “Sichovykh Striltsiv Street — St George’s Square — Metropolitan Andrey Street — Stepan Bandera Street — Kropyvnytskyi Square — Horodotska Street — Kulparkivska Street (then as per route)”.
This diversion scheme for public transport will remain in place for the entire period of the repair works on Heroiv UPA Street.
