Standards Implemented in Lviv for the Placement of Vending Machines

In Lviv, a new standard has been approved for the placement of parcel lockers, water dispensers, and other vending machines. The document was developed by the architecture department of the Lviv City Council in collaboration with entrepreneurs and aims to improve urban spaces.

The new rules specify clear requirements for the location and design of vending machines. Specifically, machines should mainly be installed in premises like shopping centres or near transport stops, avoiding historic areas and landmarks.

The document contains specific requirements regarding inclusivity and safety. Routes to the machines must be barrier-free, and the height of control elements should be convenient for those with limited mobility.

There are also restrictions on placing machines in open areas. They should not obstruct pedestrian or vehicular traffic and must blend harmoniously into the architectural environment. Labels on machines must be exclusively in Ukrainian, with possible English duplicates.

The head of the architecture department, Roman Krushelnytskyi, noted that a transitional period until the end of the year has been introduced for adaptation to the new standards. Entrepreneurs will need to coordinate installation locations with the City Council in the future.
