Lviv completes the first stage of reconstruction of destroyed buildings on Stryiska Street

Lviv has completed the first stage of restoration of houses on Stryiska Street, which were destroyed by Russians as a result of the largest missile strike on the city’s civilian infrastructure on July 6, 2023.

According to Liubomyr Zubach, Deputy Mayor of Lviv for Urban Development, the next step is to restore the facades, restore the networks, and repair the apartments.

Sometimes it would have been easier to build from scratch than to rebuild what was destroyed,” says Rembud, the Lviv utility company that was involved in the reconstruction.

In eight months, they managed to install floors, rebuild walls, floors, and roofs. Windows and doors were also installed in the houses.

“Now it’s even better than it was before. For example, the four most affected houses now have wooden windows instead of metal-plastic ones. Meanwhile, we have covered the roofs with very high-quality tiles that we brought from abroad.

We did everything we could to preserve the historical appearance of these houses during the reconstruction. Since they are architectural monuments, further work requires an appropriate project – its development is now in an active phase, we are doing it for budgetary funds,” said Liubomyr Zubach.
