In Lviv, the maximum amounts of financial assistance for residents whose homes have been damaged by missile strikes, drone attacks or other actions classified as a terrorist act have been increased. The relevant decision was adopted by the executive committee of Lviv City Council.
Residents can now receive up to UAH 20,000 to restore damaged entrance doors and up to UAH 15,000 for each damaged window, glazing unit, block or other window structure. Previously, the maximum amounts were UAH 8,000 per door and UAH 12,000 per window. The decision took effect on 30 July 2026.
Lviv City Council explained that the revision of the assistance amounts is linked to rising costs of materials and repair works, which meant that the previous compensation levels were often insufficient for the full restoration of damaged structures.
«We have revised the amounts of assistance because the cost of materials and works has increased, and the previous sums were often not enough to restore damaged windows or doors. For people who have lived through a missile strike or a drone attack, it is important to be able to return to normal living conditions as quickly as possible. That is why the city is increasing financial support and will continue to promptly consider applications from affected residents», — Halyna Hrynyk, Acting Head of the Social Protection Department of Lviv City Council
The changes were adopted following the missile attack on 30 July. At an extraordinary meeting of the city commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations, it was decided to prepare documents for payments to those affected already in line with the new compensation amounts.
Financial assistance will be provided within the actual cost of the works, but not exceeding the established maximum amounts. The compensation covers not only standard windows, but also window structures and glass doors leading to balconies.
In addition to payments for windows and doors, the current municipal procedure provides for:
- UAH 15,000 in the event of a flat being flooded due to a destroyed roof or other damage;
- assistance for restoring the roofs of private houses;
- assistance for repairing residential premises and flats that have suffered significant damage or destruction.
One representative of a household may apply for financial assistance: the owner or co-owner of the home, the tenant, or a person registered in the damaged flat or house. The application must be submitted to an Administrative Services Centre (CNAP) or its territorial unit no later than six months from the date of the attack.
Receiving this financial assistance does not deprive residents of the right to claim other types of support provided for by law or local programmes.
