In Lviv, a modern Mother and Child Center “Unbreakable Mothers” was presented to pregnant displaced women

In Lviv, the Mother and Child Center “Unbreakable Mothers” was built for pregnant displaced women who fled the war to our city. Today, the center was presented to expectant mothers.

“This is a fairly quiet location, close to Znesinnia Park, and it takes 10 minutes to get to the city center by bus. We tried to make this space cozy, to have areas for joint cooking, children’s playrooms, places where you can do physical activities. There is a spacious yard, nearby we have a green area where we can make several terraces. There are playgrounds for children, with swings, lasagnas, so that you can spend your time with children on the street as pleasantly as possible. With the help of the Department of Ecology, we managed to arrange a nice recess with a lake,” said Anton Kolomeytsev, head of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism of the LMR.

He emphasized that this house is well adapted for winter: there is electric heating. Each room has two double beds, which allows for comfortable accommodation for 4 people. The accommodation format will be convenient and can change, that is, a woman and several of her children can live in the room.

“I note that this project is implemented jointly with the general project “UNBROUKEN”, which is implemented jointly with the Ministry of Health, the city and regional councils, and it is financially sponsored by the Red Cross Society,” added Anton Kolomeytsev.

At the same time, according to the head of the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital, Ivan Miskiv, the Mother and Child Center “Unbreakable Mothers” provides for the permanent presence of a visiting nurse who will take care of the children.

“There will be midwifery staff here who will help pregnant women. Since it is necessary to properly prepare for childbirth, the medical staff will familiarize pregnant women with this: what exercises should be done, how to psychologically prepare oneself for the upcoming childbirth, etc. If necessary, it is possible to provide any kind of medical care to both mothers and children in a location quite close to the town,” said Ivan Miskiv.

We will remind you that the Mother and Child Center “Unbreakable Mothers” is two houses for pregnant resettled women, which were built in the Glynyansky Tract area. The housing format is completely different here than in the modular towns for immigrants in Lviv. For the women, the houses were built from wooden structures assembled on site. The experience of a similar structure in the USA is taken as a basis. Pregnant women or mothers with children can live here. An individual contract will be signed with each mother, which will determine the period of their stay in these houses.

The total area of two two-story buildings is 1300 m2. In each of them, all the necessary conditions for the comfortable temporary accommodation of pregnant women who have the status of internally displaced persons have been arranged: bedrooms, laundry rooms, showers, toilets, rest rooms, children’s areas, kitchens, dining rooms, boiler rooms. And next to the housing, landscaping is being arranged: sidewalks, observation and children’s playgrounds, and even a lake. 104 people can live here at the same time.

Lviv architects designed the houses. The work is carried out by an Odesa company that moved to Lviv after the war.
