The Road in Malechiv Was Unblocked After 17 Years of Being Blocked

The communal road in Malechiv was unblocked, where an illegally erected fence stood for more than 17 years.

The State Land Use and Protection Control Authority, along with the Agglomeration and Community Development Office, forced the owners to free the street they had unlawfully occupied. They dismantled the illegally installed fence and metal gates. This involves 0.0434 hectares of communal land located in the protected zone of power lines.

A visiting commission of Lviv City Council employees documented the takeover of the communal road on Barvinsky Street in Malechiv. Two owners erected a fence, narrowing the road and halting traffic. The owners justified their actions by claiming they had permits from the then deputies. “However, there is a cadastral number clearly defining the boundaries of the land plot owned by the person,” noted the Agglomeration and Community Development Office.

“Since the detected fact concerned, among other things, the lands in the protective zone of the 110 kV power line and bore the signs of a criminal offense, we sent the inspection materials to law enforcement agencies. There, a criminal case was registered,” said the State Land Use and Protection Control management. The violation was recorded back in 2007, but the street remained blocked.

Now, the long-standing story regarding the takeover of Barvinsky Street has ended in favor of the community residents – and the road is finally unblocked.
