From tomorrow, December 11, cashless fare payment will be available in all public transport in Lviv. The department of urban mobility and street infrastructure of the LMR reminds how to pay for travel on city buses, trams and trolleybuses from Monday, which payment method will be the most beneficial for the passenger and why beneficiaries need to have a personalized card and validate their travel.
How will it be possible to pay for travel?
From Monday, it will be possible to pay for travel on city buses, trams and trolleybuses with a bank card or a device with NFC and a LeoKart transport card. There is also the option of paying in cash with the driver, however, this method of payment will be the most expensive. After all, the priority is the rejection of cash in favor of cashless payment.
What will be the cost of the trip?
The cost of one trip in all modes of transport will depend on the payment method and will be: UAH 13 – when paying with a LeoKart transport card, UAH 15 – when paying with a bank card or NFC device; UAH 20 – when paying in cash to the driver; UAH 6.5 – for students when paying with a LeoKart student transport card. That is, the cheapest trip will be with a LeoKart transport card, and the most expensive – when paying in cash.
Fine for unpaid/unvalidated travel – UAH 300.

Therefore, in order to use public transport at the lowest fare, you should purchase a general transport card LeoKart (red). The cost of a ticket-carrying card is UAH 60. It is important that there should always be a balance for a backup trip on the general LeoCard. Therefore, when buying a card, you need to pay 60 hryvnias and make a deposit of 10 hryvnias. These 10 hryvnias remain on the card’s balance, which enables the passenger, even with a zero balance, to make one backup trip. Further, in order to activate the card, it must be topped up in the amount of 1 hryvnia. The commission fee, regardless of the amount or method of topping up the card, is not charged to the passenger.

Currently, the following methods of replenishing the balance of general and personalized LeoCards are available: online – through the EasyPay application and website; through EasyPay terminals; in 40 branded “Interpress” kiosks. How to make non-cash payment?
To make a non-cash payment, the passenger must attach a bank card, a device supporting ApplePay\GooglePay or LeoCard to the validator in the cabin and wait for a single beep and a green mark on the validator. This means that the payment has been credited. A paper ticket is not issued to the passenger with this method of payment.
Is it possible to pay for several passengers with one card?
One LeoKart card (general, personalized) or bank card can be used to pay for several passengers and baggage. At the same time, the passenger can pay for his trip and a maximum of three additional ones
When paying for the fare with a bank card, will the funds be debited immediately?
No. When paying for a fare with a bank card, the funds will not be debited immediately, but over the course of the next day, because the automated fare payment system is built on the basis of delayed authorization. This is done for quick boarding of passengers in transport. Passengers can receive notifications in the application about pre-authorization – 1 hryvnia is “frozen” on the account. This is how the system checks whether the card is active. After the toll is withdrawn, this 1 hryvnia is returned to the account.

When paying in cash, the passenger must obtain a one-time paper ticket from the driver. The ticket has a QR code with information about the route number, day and time of ticket purchase. The ticket must be kept until the end of the trip.
Will passengers in electric transport be able to pay via QR codes and will monthly travel cards be kept?
Electronic services and travel cards in electric transport remain temporarily active. Travel cards purchased before December 11 will be valid in electric transport until they expire. From December 11, monthly travel cards will be available at the new price. The general monthly travel card will cost: UAH 420 – electronic version and UAH 430 – regular. The cost of a monthly student subscription is UAH 210 and UAH 215, respectively. A monthly card for enterprises, institutions and organizations of Lviv MTG will cost UAH 500.
And the cost of the trip when paying with a smartphone via Privat24 and EasyPay QR codes will be UAH 15.
