Reconstruction of the Symbolic Tomb in Radekhiv

The reconstruction of the symbolic Tomb of Fighters for Ukraine’s Freedom took place in Radekhiv, becoming a symbol of resilience.

On November 1, 1990, nearly 10 months before the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine, a grand ceremony took place in Radekhiv. A symbolic Tomb of Fighters for Ukraine’s Freedom was erected and consecrated on Lvivska Street. This high mound with a cross on top, framed by the national and state flags of Ukraine, became a symbol of our eternal resilience. “Let this be the last grave on our land!” proclaimed speakers at the ceremony.

35 years have passed since that historic moment. Flowers were laid by the cross during joyful days for Ukraine, people came, sang songs, and poetry was recited. Now, the coffins of the nation’s finest – our Heroes, who defended our country from an age-old enemy, are carried past it to their eternal rest…

This wooden cross, washed by tears and rain, worn by winds and frosts, scorched by war and the sun, like Ukraine itself, did not have the right to fall! Therefore, on December 17, 2025, the symbol of our struggle and resilience was reconstructed! It stands magnificently and proudly over the symbolic Tomb and all of Radekhiv, testifying: God is with us! Ukraine will prevail!
