On November 22, 2025, a meeting of the city commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations was held in Sokal, chaired by Mayor Serhii Kasian.
During the session, Ihor Lashchuk, director of the municipal utility “Sokalvodokanal,” reported a critical emergency caused by the rupture of a sewer collector on Ukrainska Street. The incident led to flooding of basements in several apartment buildings on Ukrainska and Shashkevych Streets.
Following the report, the commission decided to declare a site-level emergency situation in the city.
Prior to the meeting, a specialized contractor had conducted an inspection of the damaged section of the collector, identified the necessary scope of work, and outlined the repair methods. Due to the sewer line being located at a depth of approximately 5 meters, the repair and restoration work will be carried out jointly by Sokalvodokanal and an external specialized organization.
