In Stryi, the installation of new automatic speed and traffic violation cameras has commenced, focusing on speeding offences. This decision was made based on an analysis conducted jointly with experts from the National Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who identified areas where such devices are most appropriate.
The first camera has already been installed at the intersection of Shevchenko-Olesnytskyi streets, and another is planned to be placed near the 612 km mark on a main road. Over the next few weeks, the cameras will operate in a test mode, and later they will function without prior notice. They are configured for both lanes of traffic.
The installation of the cameras is a response to numerous public complaints about speeding and pedestrian injuries in these areas, particularly in the evening. Fines collected from violations will contribute to both the national and local budgets.
There are also plans to install roundabouts at the intersections of Hrabovetska-Drohobytska, Dobrivlyanska-Nyzhankivskoho, and Khmelnytskoho-Mlynarska. These projects have already been approved by the Lviv Regional Police Department.
