Modern Shelter for Surgical Operations and Updated Psychiatric Unit Opened at Zolochiv Hospital

Zolochiv Central District Hospital has launched two new facilities following major renovations: a state-of-the-art radiation shelter for emergency surgeries and an updated psychiatric unit.

Psychiatric Unit

The updated unit aims to provide high-quality medical care and psychosocial support for patients with mental and behavioral disorders.

  • Capacity: 10 beds, with potential for expansion.
  • Each ward features modern furniture and private restrooms.
  • Renovation cost 1.5 million UAH, funded by the local budget, while furniture and equipment were donated by benefactors.

The project aligns with the Comprehensive Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Program for Lviv Region (2023–2026), endorsed by Ukraine’s First Lady.

Advanced Shelter

The newly built shelter, covering over 210 m², is fully equipped for medical operations under emergency conditions.

  • Funding: nearly 2 million UAH from the local budget and 1.3 million UAH from the state.
  • Includes pre-operating rooms, operating rooms, staff areas, uninterrupted Wi-Fi, and Starlink.
  • Power supply is ensured by two diesel generators.
  • The shelter accommodates 200 people and serves as a Resilience Point, providing warmth, charging stations, and refreshments during outages.

Hospital Development

According to Maksym Kozytskyi, head of Lviv Regional Administration, the hospital has undergone significant modernization over the past three years:

  • New rehabilitation and diagnostic units have been opened.
  • The facility has been upgraded to match the standards of top regional hospitals.
  • Plans are in place to grant Zolochiv Hospital the status of a cluster hospital.
