In Chervonohrad, the search for an air pollutant that is annoying residents of the city and its neighbourhood continues

The head of Chervonohrad District State Administration, Andriy Dyachenko, held an extraordinary district meeting of the Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations regarding the unpleasant smell that is bothering the residents of Chervonohrad.

This was reported by the Chervonohrad District State Administration.

According to Ruslan Chernyk, head of the Chervonohrad District Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, most complaints come from residents of Ivasyuk, Korolyova, Naberezhna and Mazepa streets.

Mayor Andriy Zalivsky said that the day before, the city council had sent an appeal to the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine with a request to carry out unscheduled supervision (control) of livestock and meat processing enterprises located near Chervonohrad.

The Sokal City Council was obliged to send the same request, as the businesses that carry out economic activities and could be potential sources of stench are located on the territory of the Sokal community.

As commentators noted under the publication of the Chervonohrad District Council: “the unbearable stench has been disturbing not for a month, but for several years”:

Following the meeting of the commission, it was decided that:

  • The Chervonohrad Regional Department of the Main Directorate of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection will create mobile working groups with the mandatory participation of representatives of the Chervonohrad District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Oblast, the Chervonohrad District Department of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast and representatives of local authorities to promptly visit the areas of possible incineration of animal waste and other violations of the law in order to record and subsequently make decisions in accordance with the requirements of current legislation.
