Last night there was a heavy downpour in Lviv. In an hour and a half, four days’ worth of precipitation fell. Therefore, the storm sewers of some buildings, several manholes and the collector on Ave. Chornovola – str. The peat bogs did not have time to take such a volume of water. Therefore, flooding was recorded in the city. Since yesterday and today, utility workers are working to eliminate the consequences of the downpour.
“Flooding was discovered on the street. Kostya Levytskyi, Dorosha, Tershakivtsiv. There were minor sand drifts at the intersection of St. Sakharov – Princess Olga – Gorbachevski. Since there was sand on the tram tracks, even yesterday the employees of Lviv Electrotrans quickly cleaned the tracks from silt. This morning, the trams left for the routes as usual.
The most water was on Ave. Chornovola – str. Torfyan The collector spilled here. The plates of the collector itself did not explode, only the seams were depressurized and the water damaged the landscaping. Currently, Lvivvodokanal crews are sealing seams on the collector and restoring landscaping.
Let me remind you that we are working on setting up a duplicate collector. A feasibility study has already been prepared and a tender has been held for the production of design and estimate documentation. The cost of the project is UAH 9.9 million. The production of the project has also already started,” said Iryna Marunyak, deputy mayor of Lviv for housing and communal services.

The work has already started. In these houses, we are changing the sewage network, making waterproofing, retaining walls so that water does not enter the houses. Approximately by September 1, the main part of the works will be completed,” said Iryna Marunyak.
According to her, due to yesterday’s downpour, 9 hatches were torn off, because they could not withstand the load from the water. Now Lvivvodokanal is installing hatches in their places.
There was also flooding of roofs in several houses, where the storm drains did not have time to receive a large volume of water. As recently as yesterday evening, utility workers went to the places and cleaned the storm drains where it was needed.
There are no damaged cars, no fallen trees either, only 3 broken branches were recorded.
“Today, from 06:00 in the morning, all communal services are working. They cleaned the territory from sand, cleaned the rain receivers from silting,” Iryna Marunyak added.
