A defender from the Drohobych community, who sustained a Group II disability as a result of the war, has received a state cash compensation to purchase his own home. The amount of the payment is UAH 3.8 million.
On the eve of Defenders of Ukraine Day, Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma met with the veteran’s family. During their conversation, they discussed the procedure for purchasing housing, further support for the family, and ways to resolve other important social issues.
The process of arranging and receiving the compensation was facilitated by the Social Welfare Department of the Drohobych City Council, headed by its director Ivan Terletskyi. The funds are provided in accordance with Resolution No. 719 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 19 October 2016, and with the support of the European Union under the Ukraine Facility instrument.
“We thank our warriors for their resilience and courage and will do everything possible to ensure that state guarantees and the support programmes in place are accessible to our defenders,” emphasised Taras Kuchma.
This is not the first such payment in the Drohobych community. Previously, almost UAH 8.9 million in compensation was transferred to other veterans, and these families have already been able to purchase their own homes.
The community stresses that such support allows veterans and their families not only to receive financial assistance, but also to secure their own home and more stable conditions for their future lives. The Drohobych community plans to continue working to ensure that state guarantees and support programmes for defenders are accessible, and that their implementation is accompanied by due attention to the needs of every family.
