“Polonika will help strengthen a part of the wall at the Central State Historical Archive, and the city will allocate funds for an emergency repair project
A wall fragment has broken off the building of the Central State Historical Archive, an architectural monument of national importance, at 3a Soborna Square. As a result, an offsite meeting of the city’s commission on industrial safety and emergency was held at the site today.
Thus, the Polonika Institute, together with the city’s utilities, will help to carry out priority work to remove elements of the building from the emergency state. In particular, we are talking about strengthening a part of the wall.
At the same time, according to the decision of the Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations, UAH 700 thousand will be allocated from the city budget for the production of design and estimate documentation for restoration (emergency) work and project expertise. Geological and engineering studies of the building will also be carried out.
“According to preliminary data from structural engineers, one of the reasons for the collapse of a fragment of the wall is damage to the wall structure due to uneven foundation settlements. And our own engineering research will help us find out,” explained the Lviv City Council’s Department of Historic Environment Protection.
It should be added that the Central State Historical Archive is managed by the State Archival Service of Ukraine.
