This year, on the occasion of the city’s 933rd anniversary, Drohobych organised a large-scale charity event, Million for the Armed Forces, which aimed to unite the forces of the authorities, the community and business to raise funds to support Ukrainian soldiers.
Seventy drones were delivered to four military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Drohobych
In total, Drohobych managed to raise UAH 1 million 346 thousand 375 during the campaign.
For the funds raised, the city purchased 100 FPV drones with batteries and two Volkswagen Transporter (T4) cars worth PLN 19,700 – the cars are already on their way from Poland to Ukraine.
The remaining balance of the collection is UAH 146,345, which will be used for the needs of one of the military units.
Today, the community leadership handed over seventy FPV drones purchased as part of the Million for the Armed Forces campaign to military units performing combat missions to defend Ukraine at the frontline.
The relevant certificates from the community were presented by Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma and his deputies.
In particular, 30 drones were handed over to the leadership of the 3002 military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine, and 10 drones were handed over to the 4676 military unit. Another 20 drones were handed over to the Rapid Action Corps (Streletsky) of the National Police, which is currently deployed in one of the hottest spots on the frontline. Another 10 drones will be sent to the military unit A0998.
On behalf of the entire community that contributed to the fundraising, Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma thanked the servicemen for defending Ukraine and wished that these drones would strengthen the positions of our soldiers in the fight against the enemy.
Other drones and vehicles purchased as part of the Million for the Armed Forces campaign will also be transferred to the military in the coming days. Information about the transfer of military equipment will be additionally published on the website of the Drohobych City Council.
As a reminder, all residents of Drohobych were involved in the Million for the Armed Forces campaign. Drohobych’s socially responsible businesses significantly contributed to the fundraising. Fundraising took place in educational institutions, during cultural events and auctions, donations were collected by city council officials, employees of utility companies, and community members threw money into boxes or transferred it to card accounts of the Vesely Charitable Foundation, with which the city council signed a memorandum of cooperation and jointly implemented the campaign.
