A shelter for women and children who suffered from domestic violence was opened in Morshyn

The institution has 24 beds and is equipped with everything necessary for the accommodation of women with and without children.

Today, June 22, a shelter was opened in Morshyn, where women who have suffered from domestic violence can apply. Comprehensive socio-psychological, medical, primary legal assistance, as well as information services to victims will be provided here.

The total area of the building is 460,214 m². The institution has 24 beds and is equipped with everything necessary for the accommodation of women with and without children. Accommodation in the facility will be free of charge and may last up to 90 days.

“Everyone who is faced with the problem of domestic violence should know that there are people and organizations ready to help them. Fear for your future should not be a reason to stay with the abuser. We are working on expanding the network of specialized services in the region, thereby calling on the victims not to remain silent about violence, but to seek professional help,” emphasized the acting deputy. Director of the Department of Social Protection Roman Andres.

The Morshyn community includes 14 settlements. The population of Morshyn is almost 6,000 people, and the territorial community is a little over 14,000.

In general, during 2022, the authorized bodies of the region received 17,316 complaints about violence, of which more than 14,000 were women.
