Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the warning system in the Lviv region has been put on full combat readiness
“Civil defense in a time of full-scale war begins with a warning system. It informs us about the beginnings and echoes of air alarms, and therefore gives a sign when to go to shelter. Even before February 24, we worked together with the civil defense department to ensure that every community had modern warning systems and equipped with all the necessary shelters. Now the centers of 70 communities have new systems, and they have been modernized in another three communities. We will continue to work on ensuring that all populated areas are provided with warning systems, because this is, first of all, people’s safety,” Maksym Kozytskyi said.
The Lviv Region is constantly working with the communities of the region on the issue of arranging shelters. About 1,120 schools, 32 regional medical institutions, and 46 vocational and technical schools are on the balance sheet of the region.
Before the massive rocket attacks on the energy infrastructure of the country, the main task that was set before the communities of the Lviv region was to provide shelter with additional exits, medicines, and heat.
During the power outage, the regional administration, along with district administrations and heads of communities, with the support of many organizations, including international ones, focused on ensuring that the shelters had internet and electricity. Since then, generators, Starlink systems, and routers have been delivered to the shelters of social infrastructure facilities in the region.
