During the day on 29 August, thunderstorms are expected across Lviv region. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology of Ukraine.
In view of the deteriorating weather conditions, Lviv region’s rescue services are urging residents to stay alert and follow safety rules.
If a thunderstorm catches you at home, close all windows and doors, avoid draughts and keep away from electrical appliances.
If you are outdoors during severe weather, do not walk close to building cornices, keep away from large spreading trees, advertising hoardings, power lines, metal fences, street lamps, metal towers and electricity pylons. Do not shelter from the rain under trees, as they attract lightning, and there is also a risk of branches falling due to strong gusts of wind.
If a thunderstorm catches you in a car, do not get out, close the windows and lower the car aerial. The vehicle should not be parked under trees or tall structures.
