American and Ukrainian Urologists to Aid the Injured

A charitable medical mission with the participation of leading urologists from the USA and Ukraine will take place in the Lviv region.

From October 16 to 23, at the University Hospital of Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytsky, specialists will conduct reconstructive surgeries for the injured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The project’s goal is to restore health and dignity to Ukrainian defenders, as well as to pass on unique experience from leading US specialists to Ukrainian doctors.

The American team includes: Dr. Laura Bukavina — oncologist-urologist, assistant professor, Cleveland Clinic; Dr. George Koc — assistant professor of urology, Ohio State University; Dr. Shubham Gupta — professor of urology, University Hospitals Case Western; Dr. Adam Calaway — head of the department of urologic oncology, University Hospitals Case Western; Drs. Patrick Mershon, Andrew Drozd, Michael Gross — residents and fellows of leading US clinics; Tanya Gabiak — surgical assistant, Cleveland Clinic.

The surgeries will be conducted in collaboration with Ukrainian urologists of the University Hospital. The mission’s coordinator from the Ukrainian side is Vasyl Matviyiv, PhD, surgeon-urologist at LNMU’s University Hospital named after Danylo Halytsky.
