Young Girl from Lutsk Successfully Operated on for Kidney Tumours

In Lutsk, surgeons at the Children’s Medicine Centre deftly tackled a complex challenge by operating on little Eva, who had been diagnosed with bilateral kidney tumours. The specialists managed to preserve the functionality of the organs by removing only the affected parts.

The illness was detected in the spring, after which the child underwent a course of chemotherapy, allowing the tumours to reduce in size in preparation for surgery. Surgeon Orest Leshnevsky stated:

“In similar cases, it is sometimes necessary to completely remove the kidneys. However, thanks to effective chemotherapy, we were able to perform a bilateral resection and preserve the organs”

Fortunately, following the operation, the child’s condition is stable, and the kidney function is preserved. The final stages of treatment remain ahead.
