Doctors Save Child with Critical Weight in Lviv

In Lviv, doctors are fighting for the life of a child with critical weight.

An ambulance brought the child to a hospital in Lviv in extremely serious condition. The child was born in the Dnipropetrovsk region and is temporarily displaced. At the time of hospitalization, she was 1 year old but weighed only 4.2 kg, which is almost half the normal weight. The child had 60% body mass deficiency, severe protein-energy malnutrition, cachexia, fever, wounds all over the body, and couldn’t eat independently.

\”During her stay in intensive care, the child gained 1.5 kg. After showing positive dynamics, she was transferred to the pediatric ward,\” says Vira Pryimakova, head of the anesthesiology department. Currently, the child is under medical supervision as her family is in difficult circumstances.

\”She was cared for around the clock by teams from two departments. First in intensive care, then in pediatrics. We did everything to help the child,\” stresses Roksolyana Dub, head of the Clinic for Early Childhood Diseases and Rehabilitation. The child was also consulted by neurologists, rehabilitologists, cardiologists, and physiotherapists from our Center for comprehensive treatment.

Overall, the child’s treatment involved: the anesthesiology department team with intensive care beds led by department head and pediatric anesthesiologist Vira Pryimakova, the Clinic for Early Childhood Diseases and Rehabilitation team led by Roksolyana Dub, and attending physician Lyudmyla Hatalyak. We continue our mission to save the smallest and most vulnerable!
