Lviv residents are invited to see the process of making prostheses

On Tuesday, September 26, on the first anniversary of the launch of the field of prosthetics, the National Rehabilitation Center UNBROKEN opens the doors of the prosthetics workshop. The center invites all willing residents of Lviv to see with their own eyes what the daily work of a large team of prosthetists looks like and all the stages of manufacturing artificial limbs. You need to register to participate.

There will also be an opportunity to visit the rehabilitation center and see for yourself what a long and exhausting path patients go through from injury to prosthetics.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainian doctors have faced the need for prosthetics for civilians and military personnel who have lost their limbs as a result of landmine and gunshot wounds. That is why on September 26, 2022, the first mobile workshop was launched at the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center. Today, there is a modern multi-section workshop with an area of 250 m², equipped with the best equipment of the world’s leading manufacturers.

During the year of operation of the prosthetic workshop of the center UNBROKEN, 215 Ukrainians have already received artificial limbs. Six of them have bionic hand prostheses.

You can get to the prosthesis workshop on September 26 by pre-registering here: http://surl.li/linjt.

A briefing for the mass media and a summary of the workshop’s year will be held on the same day, September 26, at 11:00 a.m. Accreditation for journalists: http://surl.li/limxs.

The first mobile prosthetic workshop of the National Rehabilitation Center UNBROKEN became operational in September 2022. It, together with equipment from the German company Ottobock, was provided by the Maltese Aid Service with the support of the Government of Germany and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. And together with the workshop, the UNBROKEN center also received components for up to 200 prostheses from them.

In March 2023, a new powerful multi-section prosthetics workshop was put into operation. It is 250 m² of working space: there is a plaster room, rooms with ovens and machines where billets are made, as well as rooms for fitting and training.

It was possible to implement such a large-scale project with the support of the NESCAFÉ brand – the Nestlé company transferred UAH 3.5 million to UNBROKEN for the renovation of the premises. Equipment worth 10 million hryvnias was purchased thanks to the organization “The Global Jewish 9-1-1” and BF “Zaporuka”. It was transported from Germany by the Meest company.
