Timely prevention is about controlling your health. The Second Medical Association of Lviv is organizing a week of women’s health. Doctors invite you to undergo a comprehensive screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer. The weekly campaign aims to encourage people to be diagnosed in time.
Family doctors and gynecologists refer women for breast ultrasound (25-40 years) or mammography (after 40 years) and pelvic ultrasound. An annual gynecological examination with cytological screening of the cervix is also mandatory. You can make an appointment with a specialist on your own or under the direction of a family doctor.
“If every woman, as it should be, once a year undergo preventive examinations – the threshold of cancer and mortality would be much lower. According to the WHO, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer worldwide. In Ukraine, this disease is a leader among women’s oncology. According to the Cancer Institute, every 7-8 women have problems with their breasts, but it is too late to see a doctor. Only early detection of the disease can affect the situation, as the first stage of breast cancer is cured in 95% of women, the second stage in 80%, and the third stage in 50%, ”the Second Medical Association of Lviv reports.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women. During the year, more than 280,000 women died from it in the world, and more than 2,000 in Ukraine.
We remind you that women are recommended to be examined by a gynecologist once a year. Gynecologists and family doctors provide referrals for free diagnosis of the pelvic organs and breasts. Up to 40 years is an ultrasound diagnosis, followed by a mandatory annual mammogram.
