Lviv Doctors Saved a Young Man with 60% Body Burns

A 19-year-old boy suffered severe burns while painting a roof. This is a critical situation that could have ended fatally. Additionally, he also suffered burns to his respiratory tract.

The team at the burn unit of St. Luke’s Hospital in Lviv fought for his life. ‘When a patient arrives with more than 20% burns, there is already a threat to life,’ — says Ivan Ryk, Head of the Thermal Injury and Plastic Surgery Center.

Bohdan Hapiy from Zhytomyr region was working at an enterprise in Lviv region and accidentally spilled solvent on himself. After lighting a cigarette, his clothes ignited. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in serious condition, with deep burns on 60% of his body.
