Lviv Doctors Preserve Patient’s Chance for Motherhood

At the Lviv Cancer Center, a 27-year-old woman was successfully treated for cancer while preserving her possibility of becoming a mother.

During an examination, a cervical tumor was detected in the patient. Specialists selected an individualized treatment plan that not only saved her life but also preserved her reproductive function. After two courses of chemotherapy, doctors performed an organ-preserving surgery, maintaining the uterus, ovaries, and future motherhood potential.

“Preserving reproductive function with such diagnoses is always a challenge. The fact that the pregnancy occurred naturally can be called a real miracle,” said Irina Yezhova, a doctor from the gynecological department No. 2 of the Lviv Cancer Center.

The pregnancy was monitored by specialists at the Lviv Regional Perinatal Center, where the little resident of Lviv was born. Doctors emphasize that regular preventive check-ups and early diagnosis save lives and provide a chance for the future.
