Lviv Doctors Preserve Pregnancy After PPROM

In Lviv, doctors successfully preserved the pregnancy of a woman whose water broke at the 24th week.

This unique case occurred at St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital. A team of medics fought for the child’s life during a waterless period for 83 days. Doctor Ihor Fedashko noted: “11 weeks is extremely long. This is the case of the longest waterless interval in our hospital.”

At the 35th week of pregnancy, Yulia gave birth to a healthy boy, Matviyko, weighing 2960 grams. The second birth occurred naturally, despite a scar on the uterus.

After birth, a rare umbilical cord knot was discovered, which occurs in only 0.3−2% of births. Yulia expressed her gratitude: “Matviyko now has many guardian angels, and they all wear medical suits.”
