The Lviv Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine has received a new set of training and simulation equipment worth over UAH 1.35 million. The delivery took place under the international project “Enhancing Emergency Response Capacities in Ukraine”, implemented by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) and the Polish Centre for International Aid (PCPM).
The Centre received state-of-the-art medical simulators, manikins and training devices. They will be used to train emergency medical staff, conduct simulation-based training sessions and practise practical skills in line with international standards.
A meeting was held at the Lviv Regional Council with the participation of the regional leadership, representatives of the Emergency Medical Aid Centre, the Polish Centre for International Aid and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv. During the event, the participants summed up the results of the project and discussed further cooperation.
They also discussed possible infrastructure initiatives: the construction of a regional emergency medicine centre in the Lviv region, the reconstruction of the emergency medical aid station in Drohobych, the creation of modern first aid training classrooms, and the upgrading of the material and technical resources of the Lviv Regional Centre.
As part of the project, ten leading instructors from the Centre underwent intensive training led by Polish trainers with the support of Taiwanese partners. These instructors will subsequently be responsible for training all emergency medical teams in the Lviv region, integrating international protocols and approaches into the service’s daily work.
During the meeting, Acting Chair of the Lviv Regional Council Yurii Kholod emphasised the importance of the project for the region.
“For the Lviv region, which today is one of Ukraine’s key medical hubs, it is extremely important not only to renew our physical infrastructure, but also to invest continuously in the knowledge and professional development of our medical staff. Every such project means more human lives will be saved. I sincerely thank our partners from Taiwan and Poland for their systematic support of Ukraine and the Lviv region,” said Yurii Kholod.
The Lviv Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine is headed by Yaroslav Hasiak. The institution expects that the new equipment and instructor training will help improve the quality of emergency care provided in the region.
