At the Yuriy Lypa Lviv Regional Hospital for War Veterans and Repressed Persons in Vynnyky, a new suite of modern equipment for patient rehabilitation has begun operating, which the medical facility received from the French company Dessintey.
The hospital notes that the new systems are designed primarily for people who have lost limbs or have impaired limb function, when the brain has to ‘relearn’ how to control movements without its usual point of reference. To this end, two main installations have been put together: IVS3, which works with the arms and shoulder girdle, and IVS4, intended for the legs and gait.
«The loss of a limb or impairment of its function is a challenge not only for the body, but also for the brain, which has to learn again how to control movements without a familiar point of reference, so the road to recovery is long and demands strength, patience and high-quality tools. The IVS3 system works with the arms and shoulder girdle. The IVS4 system works with the legs and gait. Both show the patient a virtual image of the lost limb. The brain sees the movement and learns to restore the lost connections. This helps regain control over the body and ease phantom pain»
The hospital has also installed SRT5 technologies, which allow patients to perform part of their exercises independently. This training format makes the rehabilitation process more autonomous and reduces dependence on constant assistance from medical staff.
According to the medical facility, all the new equipment has already been put into operation and is actively used by the hospital's specialists for comprehensive patient rehabilitation.
