The Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Centre has received a portable wireless ultrasound (US) probe. The equipment was provided under the nationwide programme to support maternity wards “New Lives”, implemented by the Ohmatdyt – Healthy Childhood charitable foundation.
The new device is a compact mobile system for ultrasound examinations. It allows doctors to carry out scans directly at the newborn’s bedside, without needing to transfer the baby to a stationary machine.
At the perinatal centre they note that the ultrasound probe has two working surfaces for a comprehensive ultrasound examination, and the image is displayed on a tablet.
“The device has two working surfaces for a comprehensive ultrasound examination, and the resulting image is displayed on a tablet. This makes it possible to quickly assess the baby’s condition and determine whether further, more detailed examination on a stationary ultrasound machine is required. The portability of the device allows it to be used not only in medical facilities, but also during medical evacuation. For the doctor, this is an opportunity to obtain the necessary information here and now – right next to the little patient,” staff at the perinatal centre explained.
The facility stresses that such equipment expands doctors’ capabilities for rapid diagnosis of newborns’ condition, particularly in complex clinical cases and during the transportation of children.
