Hnat Gerych, head of the surgical department of the First Medical Association of Lviv, told at the Clinical Congress 2022 in the USA what kind of military wounds Ukrainian surgeons have to work with. The ACS (American College of Surgeons) Clinical Congress is attended by more than 20,000 medical professionals.
In order to get into the association and participate in the congress, you need to go through a complex authorization procedure, which must confirm a high level of knowledge, scientific status, as well as practical experience and mastery of technically complex methods of operations. This year, for the first time in the history of the congress, a Ukrainian surgeon gave a speech.
“The topic of military trauma and military wounds is of great interest in the medical community. Surgeons from different parts of the world heard about military injuries and injuries that Ukrainian surgeons are facing due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine. After the speech, I received many thanks and words of support for the Ukrainian doctors who are saving the military and civilians in this difficult time,” said Hnat Gerych.
According to the results of the report, the native of Lviv also received two high awards from the American College of Surgeons and the US Military Medical Service for his work on training young Ukrainian surgeons, implementing modern operating techniques in Ukraine and for the high level of surgical care for injured Ukrainians.
