According to the results of the first quarter of 2024, the Transplantology Center of the First Medical Association of Lviv performed the largest number of organ transplants in Ukraine.
Thus, only in the first three months of 2024, 131 organ transplants were performed in Ukraine. Of them, 39 are in the Transplantology Center of Lviv, and this is the largest number in the country.
“In recent years, the transplantation system has been actively developing in Ukraine, even despite the full-scale war. Every year – more and more operations. And the geography of centers and hospitals where organ transplants will be performed is constantly expanding. Currently, 67% of all transplants are posthumous donations. Every year, more and more Ukrainians are ready to donate the organs of their deceased relatives in order to save other people. The rest, 33%, are family organ transplants.
Currently, there are 3,013 patients on the national transplant waiting list. Most of them need a kidney transplant – 1,961 people. Livers – 477 people, hearts – 455. Specialists of our Center are happy with the rapid development of the industry and are doing everything possible to save as many Ukrainians as possible,” noted the Transplantology Center of the First Medical Association of Lviv.
By the way, the updated Transplantology Center of the First Medical Association of Lviv became operational in 2021. There are 7 intensive care and 10 inpatient beds, as well as 2 isolated operating rooms with the latest equipment.
