Ministry of Health Introduced New Approach to Medication for Cancer Patients

The Ministry of Health has approved a new mechanism for distributing medications to cancer patients in Lviv.

Today, December 9, a working meeting took place with the participation of the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko and representatives of state procurement. They discussed the provision of necessary drugs to cancer patients and agreed to launch a pilot project for the Lviv region. This was announced by the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi. “Previously, the volume of drug provision was determined by the statistics of 2023, which did not reflect the current need,” explains the head of the health department Marta Matiushko.

The new approach involves changing the drug distribution system. From now on, the state will be able to see the actual number of patients in medical institutions online every month and provide for them according to the needs. This will help deliver medications to cancer patients in Lviv and the region more timely.

“Procurements are carried out by Medical Procurement of Ukraine,” noted Minister Viktor Lyashko. The drugs are distributed among the regions, and the health departments are responsible for their further redistribution between hospitals.
