The Lviv Regional Council has backed an initiative by the Ministry of Health to establish a modern Centre for the Identification of the Bodies of the Deceased in Lviv Region. The issue was considered on 27 August at a meeting of the standing commission on health care and maternity.
As explained during the meeting, due to the full-scale war there has been a significant increase in the number of bodies of the deceased arriving at the State Specialised Institution “Lviv Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination” for forensic, criminalistic and genetic examinations. The institution’s existing premises are not designed for such volumes of work.
Acting Head of the Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination Vasyl Hryhoriichuk stressed that the creation of a separate centre would make it possible to ensure proper conditions for the storage of bodies and the completion of the full range of necessary examinations in one place.
Following the discussion, members of the commission supported the proposal to approach the Davydiv territorial community with a request to assist in allocating a land plot for the construction of the Centre for the Identification of the Bodies of the Deceased.
Chair of the Commission on Health Care and Maternity Anna Yarmola emphasised that in wartime the processes of storage and identification of bodies must be clearly organised, and specialists must work in properly equipped premises.
Earlier, the commission on communal property of the Lviv Regional Council had already supported the establishment of such a centre on the basis of the Lviv Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination.
At the same meeting, deputies were also presented with the ClinicKey ERP health care facility management system. This system makes it possible to centrally collect and analyse data on the work of medical institutions. Hospital managers will be additionally informed about the capabilities and operating principles of ClinicKey.
