In September–October 2026, an autumn campaign of oral immunisation of wild carnivorous animals against rabies is planned in the territory of Lviv region. The measure will be carried out in accordance with the Plan of anti-epizootic measures for the prevention of major infectious and parasitic animal diseases in Ukraine for 2026.
The vaccine will be distributed by ground method: special baits containing the vaccine will be laid out in designated areas. In total, it is planned to cover about 13.84 thousand km² of the region’s territory.
Residents are asked not to pick up or move any vaccine baits they find, and to explain to children that such objects must not be touched. This is important for the safety of people and for the effectiveness of immunisation of wild animals.
Oral vaccination is one of the key measures to prevent the spread of rabies among wild and domestic animals and to reduce the risk of people becoming infected with this dangerous disease.
