On the eve of the Day of the Deaf, the head of the region told what support the region provides to people with hearing disabilities.
“There are about 2.5 thousand deaf people living in Lviv region. Our goal is to become an area of equal opportunities for all. That is why we are actively implementing the National Strategy for the Creation of a Barrier-Free Space, which was initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
On an ongoing basis, we support the Lviv regional organization of the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf, which deals with social protection, rehabilitation and leisure for people with hearing impairments.
Most of the briefings in the Lviv Regional State Administration are translated into sign language. Thanks for the professionalism of our Yuriy Tabaka, who has been helping us with this for over three years. Such translation gives people with hearing disabilities access to information and allows them to integrate into society.
On the International Day of Sign Languages and on the eve of the Day of the Deaf, I would like to emphasize once again: sign language is important. Understanding to all of us,” Maksym Kozytskyi said in his address.
