More than 9,000 cases of colds: epidemiological situation in Lviv Oblast

Most of the patients are children.

The Lviv Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the number of visits to doctors for cold symptoms in the region increased over the past week. The number of cases increased by 4.8%, and a total of 9,283 patients were registered. However, it should be noted that the incidence rate is currently 13% below the epidemic threshold. What is particularly worrying is that more than half of the patients, namely 51.9%, are children.

In addition, 68 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed last week, two of which were fatal. The victims were men with severe comorbidities.

In this regard, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine emphasises the importance of vaccination against influenza and COVID-19. This is the most effective way to protect against these infectious diseases.

Important information about vaccination:

  • Influenza: Vaccination is recommended annually as the virus strains change. The vaccine is available in pharmacies, and all available products undergo strict state quality control to ensure their safety and effectiveness.
  • Against COVID-19: Vaccination remains free of charge for everyone. To receive a vaccination, you need to contact your family doctor, who will help you organise the vaccination.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine also notes that revaccination is an important element in maintaining strong immunity.
