Six doctors from Lviv region undertaking placements in Britain

Six doctors from Lviv region have begun a two-week placement at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in the United Kingdom. The medics are familiarising themselves with the latest approaches in surgery and rehabilitation together with their British colleagues.

During the training, the Ukrainian specialists are studying robotic technologies for operations on internal organs and in cancer surgery, as well as modern methods of treatment and patient rehabilitation in neurology.

The placement is taking place under a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Lviv Regional State Administration and Norfolk County Council, signed in May 2024. This is the first region in the United Kingdom with which Lviv region has concluded such an agreement. The document provides for partnership between the region’s medical institutions and Norfolk hospitals, as well as training programmes and exchanges of experience for medical staff.

The agreement in 2024 was signed with the then Leader of Norfolk County Council, Kay Mason Billig; cooperation now continues with the participation of the current Leader of Norfolk County Council, David Bick.

The Ukrainian doctors are working under the guidance of British specialists. The knowledge acquired during the placement is planned to be implemented in the work of the University Hospital of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University.
