At the Ternopil Centre for Children’s Medicine, an exceptionally complex neurosurgical operation was performed on 8-year-old Artem. Foreign and Ukrainian doctors carried out a rare procedure to treat a severe form of epilepsy. Specialists disconnected the affected hemisphere of the brain, which was the source of the seizures, from the healthy hemisphere. This prevents the spread of pathological impulses, preserving essential brain functions.
Thanks to this surgery, Artem has been given hope for a life without constant seizures and a chance for normal development. His story now inspires other patients and families who dream of a cure from this ailment.
