Three in intensive care: doctors spoke about the condition of the victims of yesterday’s road accident near Lviv

As of today, 16 victims of yesterday’s large-scale road accident near the village of Gamalivka on the Kyiv-Chop highway continue to be treated in three hospitals of the First Medical Association of Lviv. Another 17 patients, after the assistance provided, were referred for outpatient treatment, and 3 more, who were in a state of shock, refused hospitalization.

“36 patients applied to the First Territorial Medical Association. 16 of them were hospitalized, others were examined and referred for outpatient treatment. Three patients remain in intensive care, their condition is serious but stable. Three children were hospitalized: two were operated on, their condition is stable. 6 adult patients were immediately operated on, three of them remain in serious condition. The condition of the other patients is moderate to mild,” comments Hnat Gerych, head of the surgical department of the First Medical Association of Lviv.

All patients have severe combined body injuries of different areas, face, limbs, chest, abdomen. All those who needed immediate help underwent emergency surgery in the conditions of the emergency red zone in the emergency department of the hospital.

The patient in the most serious condition is 51 years old. She has a severe craniocerebral injury with hemorrhage in the brain, fractures of the bones of the base of the skull, multiple blunt-scalping wounds of the head, trauma to the chest, multiple bone fractures, and a contusion of both lungs. She is connected to a ventilator, but her condition is stable.
