International Mission: 10 Complex Operations in a Children’s Hospital

At the Clinical Center for Pediatric Medicine, the Reconstruction Mission — a three-day intensive medical mission, was successfully completed during which a team of Ukrainian and American doctors performed 10 complex surgical procedures.

Each operation lasted from 4 to 10 hours. As part of the mission, children were consulted and operated on for free by American maxillofacial and plastic surgeon Mark Hnatyuk along with the Center’s doctors. Medical assistance was provided to patients with cleft lip and palate, nasal deformities, congenital anomalies, and trauma consequences.

“These are multi-hour, highly complex operations requiring strong team coordination and significant professional experience,” noted maxillofacial surgeon Khrystyna Pohorlychna.

The mission was initiated by the Christian Medical Association of Ukraine Foundation as part of the EduCare project in collaboration with international partners. Overall, the project has so far operated on over 900 patients.
