Free rabies vaccinations for pets have begun in the Lviv community. The first to receive the jabs are the settlements where recent cases of the disease have been recorded.
A mobile team of vets has already carried out immunisation in Sytykhiv, where 28 pets were vaccinated. Today, vaccinations will be organised in the village of Hriada: a mobile veterinary point will operate from 16:00 to 18:00 next to the Lviv Community Office building.
The Community Office is urging local residents to bring not only their own pets, but also stray or neighbours’ cats and dogs for vaccination, in order to protect as many animals as possible from rabies.
Last year, more than 400 pets were vaccinated against rabies free of charge in the Lviv community. To achieve this, mobile veterinary teams travelled to various settlements, in some cases — at residents’ request — twice a year.
The vaccinations are administered by veterinary specialists from the Lviv City State Veterinary Medicine Hospital using the “Rabistar rеd” vaccine.
