Renovation of Lviv Psychiatric Hospital: Updates Ongoing

Extensive renovation and restoration work is underway at the Lviv Regional Psychiatric Hospital.

Yuriy Kholod, acting head of the Lviv Regional Council, along with members of the commission on communal property matters Rostyslav Dobosh and Yaroslav Hasiak, as well as acting head of the joint property management Andriy Bilous, visited the Lviv Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital to review the progress of renovation and restoration work in the main building.

“In 2023-2024, using provincial budget funds amounting to 55 million UAH, the first phase of the project at the regional psychiatric hospital was completed. The admissions and intensive care departments, as well as laboratory and diagnostic spaces, have been renovated. Currently, the second phase of work, with an estimated cost of nearly 297 million UAH, is being implemented. It includes comprehensive restoration and renovation of the building and landscaping,” stated Yuriy Kholod.

In March this year, the Government also approved a subsidy from the state budget for the regional psychiatric hospital in the amount of 200 million UAH. Thus, as part of the public investment project ‘Development of Inpatient Psychiatric Care in Ukraine’, the next phase of renovations has commenced. By August 2025, work amounting to nearly 70 million UAH has been completed.

The renovation and restoration work encompasses facade restoration, roof replacement, reinforcement of ceilings, modernization of engineering networks, installation of new windows and doors, as well as the creation of modern and accessible spaces for patients and staff.

According to Yuriy Kholod, the Lviv Regional Psychiatric Hospital is one of the oldest and simultaneously most important medical institutions in the region. It has special significance as a local architectural landmark and as a place where lives are saved and given meaning daily. During the war, the mission of this medical institution has become even more significant.

“Our task is to create decent conditions for patients, visitors, and medical staff. We already see the results, but much work lies ahead. I am grateful to the Government, all residents of the region who fill the budget with their taxes, benefactors, partners, and everyone involved in this significant project. This hospital has long needed renovation,” says Yuriy Kholod.
