The Department of Thermal Injury and Reconstructive Surgery of the municipal non-profit enterprise of the Lviv Regional Council “Lviv Regional Hospital for War Veterans and Repressed named after Yurii Lypa” has carried out more than a thousand surgical interventions in over two years of work.
The unit’s main patients are service personnel with combat injuries and their consequences. It also provides care to people with burns, frostbite and extensive damage to the skin who require restorative surgery. This was reported by the head of the Department of Thermal Injury and Reconstructive Surgery, Vasyl Savchyn.
An important separate area of the department’s work is charitable medical missions involving doctors from Germany, the Czech Republic, the USA and the United Kingdom. During such visits, foreign specialists, together with their Ukrainian colleagues, perform complex surgical procedures, exchange experience and train young doctors in modern treatment methods.
The knowledge and technologies acquired during international missions are implemented by the hospital’s medical staff in everyday practice, which makes it possible to improve the quality of care for wounded service personnel and other patients with severe injuries.
