At the Yuriy Lypa Lviv Regional Veterans of War and Repressed Persons Hospital, a completely refurbished operating department has been unveiled following major renovation works costing almost 199.5 million UAH.
The presentation of the upgraded operating suite took place on 11 June. The works were carried out in two phases from 2024, while the surgical service continued to operate.
The hospital now has 13 state-of-the-art operating theatres instead of six, as well as preoperative and postoperative wards, staff facilities, a medical gas system, modern ventilation and a complex of “clean rooms”. According to the acting Director General of the hospital, Volodymyr Krasokha, the upgraded unit is equipped with the very latest technology.
According to the acting Chair of the Lviv Regional Council, Yuriy Kholod, the modernisation of the operating department provides new opportunities for complex surgical interventions, increases safety for patients and medical staff, and improves the level of surgical care for service personnel, veterans and residents of the Lviv region.
Some of the operating theatres have been fitted with cameras for live broadcasting of operations, enabling the training of specialists and the exchange of experience with colleagues from other countries. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the hospital has treated more than 22,000 patients injured as a result of Russian aggression.
