In Lviv, at St Anna Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv, 42-year-old Anna has given birth to her ninth child. A healthy baby boy was born, whom his parents have named Levko.
Anna comes from a small village in Odesa region. She first became a mother at the age of 20, and later the family welcomed another seven children. Last year, her eldest son, worried about the constant shelling in Odesa region and the safety of his six sisters and little brother, persuaded his mother to move to Lviv. Here, she found work in a cleaning company and went on maternity leave only a month before giving birth.
Labour began in the 41st week of pregnancy. Despite her considerable experience, Anna admits that she was still anxious before the birth.
«This was my ninth pregnancy and my ninth birth. You would think that after so many years I would already be used to having children. But no. Every child comes into this world in their own special way, and that first meeting with them always remains a miracle», shares the mother of many children.
Baby Levko was born weighing 3,800 g, with an Apgar score of 9/10, indicating that the newborn is in good health.
The maternity department at St Anna Hospital notes that after many births a woman’s body changes, and the risks of complications, including weak labour or bleeding, increase. However, this time the birth went smoothly, and the medical team were by the patient’s side throughout.
Anna thanked the hospital team for their support and professional care during her son’s birth. According to her, it was the attentiveness and concern of the medical staff that helped her go through labour calmly and meet her newborn.
Anna now has six daughters and three sons. She says she is grateful for the opportunity to be a mother of many children, to look after a large family and to share her love. She advises those who are only preparing for motherhood not to be afraid of giving birth, to trust themselves and their doctors, and to remember that motherhood is, above all, about unconditional love.
