In Lviv, members of the community who use wheelchairs can receive reimbursement of their expenses for journeys by Uklon inclusive taxi. These are specially equipped vehicles whose drivers receive training and assist passengers during the journey. This was reported by the Social Protection Department of Lviv City Council.
According to the head of the Social Protection Department of Lviv City Council, Tetyana Kolesnyk, the reimbursement enables wheelchair users to travel more easily to medical facilities, places of study, work and administrative service centres, which supports their full participation in community life.
The maximum amount of reimbursement is up to 800 hryvnias per month. The full set of documents and the application need to be submitted only once, and thereafter, to receive the funds it is sufficient to send, once a month, the receipt and journey report (transfer ticket) from the Uklon app, either in paper or electronic form.
The programme is available to adults and children with disabilities affecting the musculoskeletal system who use wheelchairs and are registered within the territory of the Lviv City Territorial Community. Reimbursement is also provided for internally displaced persons and service personnel who use wheelchairs.
To take part in the programme, the following basic documents must be submitted: a Ukrainian citizen’s passport or ID card, taxpayer registration number, an internally displaced person’s certificate if available, bank account details, as well as the receipt and journey report from the Uklon app if the service has already been used.
Additionally, depending on the applicant’s category, the following are required: for adults with disabilities — an MSEC or EKOPFO certificate and an individual rehabilitation programme with a note confirming the need for a wheelchair; for children with disabilities — a birth certificate and a medical report confirming disability up to the age of 18; for service personnel — a document confirming military service and a certificate from a medical facility of the Lviv community confirming the need to use a wheelchair. If the documents are submitted by a legal representative or authorised person, their passport, identification code and a document confirming their authority are additionally required.
The application and document package can be submitted in several ways: online via the electronic application form on the official website of Lviv City Council, in person at the social protection office at the place of registration or stay, or at the nearest Administrative Services Centre, as well as by post to the relevant social protection office. When submitting copies of documents in person, the originals must be presented for verification, and when sending by post, each copy must bear the note “Certified true copy”, together with the date, signature, surname and initials of the applicant.
