In the coming days, Lviv is expecting an extreme heatwave with air temperatures of +32…+37 °C. Residents and visitors are advised to cool down by drinking fountains and water misters installed in different parts of the city, Lvivvodokanal Municipal Enterprise has reported.
The drinking fountains are currently operating at the following locations:
- 1 Rynok Square (by the City Hall);
- Svobody Avenue — between the Röring flowerbed and the Taras Shevchenko monument (at the junction with P. Beryndy Street);
- Svobody Avenue — by the Opera House (opposite the National Museum);
- “Na Valakh” square on Pidvalna Street (by the sports ground, with a separate basin for animals);
- Stepana Bandery Street — public space by the Organ Hall;
- 85 General T. Chuprynky Street — building of the Frankivsk District Administration;
- junction of Stepana Bandery Street and General T. Chuprynky Street;
- Ye. Malanyuka Square;
- Mytna Square;
- 175a Lychakivska Street — public space by the Church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin;
- junction of T. Shevchenka Street and D. Bortnyanskoho Street;
- Dvirtseva Square (by the Railway Station);
- 34 Vyhovskoho Street;
- Stryiskyi Park — two new drinking fountains with separate basins for people and animals.
The enterprise notes that the drinking fountains are on the books of the district administrations, while Lvivvodokanal Municipal Enterprise is responsible for water quality. All fountains are fitted with filters, and the water in them is checked daily by specialists.
Water misters are also operating in Lviv to help people cool down in the heat. They are installed at the following locations:
- Rynok Square (two misters);
- 2 Sadova Street;
- 57 Chornovola Avenue;
- 9 Mykolaychuka Street;
- Mytna Square;
- in front of the entrance to the Klymentiy Sheptytskyi Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life;
- Kniahyni Olhy Street (square in front of the water park);
- Symonenka Street (in front of the Church of Saints Volodymyr and Olha);
- junction of Shyroka Street and Hnizdovskoho Street (by the Lviv Market);
- 8 Sykhivska Street.
On hot days, the misters will operate daily from 09:00 to 20:00. The water is not supplied as a continuous jet, but is dispersed into the air in fine droplets, creating a cool mist you can walk through without getting soaked.
“Take care of yourselves, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, drink enough water and make use of the opportunity to cool down in the city,” Lvivvodokanal Municipal Enterprise advises.
